Ingredients
- 1 l /4 Cups Cider
- 1.8 Kg /4 lbs Unsmoked Gammon Joint
- 5 Small White Potatoes
- 3 Medium Carrots
- 1 Medium Leek
- 1 Tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 Tsp Oregano
- 2 Tsp Parsley
- ½ Tsp Black Pepper
- 1 Tsp English Mustard
- 1 Tsp Margarine/Butter
Instructions
- Remove the packaging from the gammon and place the gammon in the centre of the slow cooker.
- Prep your carrots, leeks, and potatoes. Quarter your potatoes (no need to peel) and then peel and chop your carrots and slice and clean your leeks. Season the carrots, leeks, and potatoes with all the seasonings apart from the mustard and then load into the slow cooker around the gammon.
- Pour the cider over the gammon and the potato and veggies until the gammon is almost submerged.
- Add the lid to the slow cooker and then place the slow cooker on high for 4 hours or low for 7 hours.
- When the time is up, remove the gammon with a large fork and allow to rest on a chopping board.
- Whilst the gammon rests, add 1 cup of potato and veg, 2 cups of the gammon liquid and 2 slices from the end of the gammon into a blender. Add the mustard and then blend to make a creamy cider gravy.
- Slice the gammon into medium slices and place on your dining table.
- Drain the potatoes and veggies and load into a microwave safe dish. Then add a little margarine over and then microwave for 90 seconds to melt the margarine over the potato and veggies. Then serve everything together.
