Disclaimer – we originally did this for a You Tube Video to show you why you shouldn’t do popcorn. I still dont agree in doing it with the air fryer, but love it in the pressure cooker. I’m keep this recipe on and the video so you can see for yourself.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 65 g /0.75 Cups Popcorn Kernels
  • ½ Tsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 Tsp Brown Sugar optional
  • 1 Tbsp Melted Butter optional

Instructions

  • Make sure you measure the corn, as too much and you will end up with not enough room for it all to pop.
  • In a bowl add your corn and your extra virgin olive oil. Toss so that the corn is well coated in the oil. To save time, as you toss your oil, give the air fryer a 1 minute preheat at 200c/400f.
  • Add your corn to the air fryer basket and create a big layer that is spread out. You don’t want some corn to pop and others to be stuck together.
  • Air fry for 7 minutes at 200c/400f. Shake at 2 minute intervals by opening the basket slightly so that the pop wont escape from the air fryer.
  • When it stops popping, toss in favourite popcorn seasoning or in butter or brown sugar, load into popcorn boxes or bowls and enjoy!

Notes

Quantity. It is very important that you don’t add too much corn, as we had an XL, we could manage ½ cup. If your air fryer is smaller go with either ¼ cup or 1/3 cup.
Popping. We found that the popcorn started to pop after 1 minute of cook time. During our first time cooking air fryer popcorn we didn’t cook the corn for long enough and that is the biggest issue with corn not popping.
